FAQ
Questions founders ask us
AUDITS AND REVIEWS
- It depends on who is asking and how much you're raising. For Reg CF, the amount raised sets the requirement. Investors, lenders and acquirers set their own. Tell us about your raise and we'll confirm what you need.
- A review is lighter than an audit. Instead of detailed testing, we perform analytical procedures and ask questions to give limited assurance. It's usually faster and costs less. In an audit, we test individual transactions and may ask for invoices, contracts and other support for the items we select. You won't need to send support for every transaction.
- Reviews are a matter of weeks, usually faster than audits. Audits typically take 1–3 months, mostly driven by how quickly documents arrive.See the four stages of an audit →
- Two-year reviews start at $3,000 and two-year audits start at $6,000, for example an early-stage SaaS company. Your fee depends on how much activity runs through your books, whether there are multiple entities, and how complex your business model is. We are able to build a formal budget for your audit after reading the financials.
WORKING WITH US
- We send a clear request list at kick-off: usually your trial balance, bank statements, key contracts, cap table and support for major balances.
- Your company is responsible for its financial statements and notes. If you need help preparing them, ask us, and we'll talk through options that keep our audit independent.
- No. Staying independent is part of the job, and it means we never compete with your bookkeeper or tax advisor. See our trusted partners if you need one.
